What multiplayer PC game should I get?

April 24th, 2011 7 comments

I like console FPS’ and was going to get MW2 for the PC, but then I read reviews on it online and apparently the multiplayer is full of hackers and connection issues. My computer is not good enough to run black ops and I like games with killstreak reward, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions?

Thanks

The Growing Popularity of Multiplayer Online Games

April 24th, 2011 No comments

It doesn't take an Internet analyst to notice that online gaming has taken over a big chunk of the online activity that people participate in on a day to day basis.

There are several reasons for this and the fact that it is gaining more and more momentum is a testament to just how incredible this market is. At early beginnings, as hardware systems and software development become more complex, online gaming systems also evolved from text-based adventures to Massively Multi-Player Online Role-Playing Games.

Increasing complexity of online gaming

The increasing complexities of these games combined with the interactions that take place during game play have enticed psychologists and sociologists to study MMORPG game-players in depth. Their findings show that these online game-players have developed far beyond their Tetris predecessors, and are displaying a vast array of skills that are now in high demand in today's growing business world.

As these games grew in complexity, researchers became fascinated with the effects on the brain by game-playing activity.

One of the reasons that the popularity of online gaming has increased dramatically is because these games let users lose themselves in another world for a few hours. When your life is not going the way that you want in to, you can now log into an online pc game and create the world and the life that you want to lead. This can be such a desire for some people that there are now online gaming addiction meetings to help people to keep from letting the online world take over their regular lives.

Relaxation and stimulation are key reason by playing online games

Not surprising, people are playing games to relax and also stimulate their minds. The expansion of o0nline gaming has reflected the overall expansion of computer networks from small local networks to the Internet and the growth of Internet access itself. If an advertiser uses games to communicate a brand message, keep game play simple and easy to understand. Difficult games that require a lot of instruction can be confusing and drive people away. Not surprisingly, the research showed that puzzle, word and card games, which are some of the easiest games to play, are preferred.

Attributes

Attributes that online gamers develop as a result of playing MMORPG games include the following:

  • Social Strategic Thinking
  • Interpretive Analysis of Strengths and Weaknesses
  • Identifying Pros and Cons
  • Problem Solving
  • Plan Formation and Execution to Achieve a Goal
  • Management of Complex Situations
  • Ability to Adapt to Rapidly Changing, Ambiguous Situations Under Pressure
  • Group Decision-Making
  • Exercising Judgment Under Pressure
  • Task Sequencing
  • Goal Directed Cooperation
  • Formation of Networks
  • Developing Information Flow
  • Spatial Orientation and Ability to Process Information
  • Ability to Communicate Cross-Culturally

Online gaming is an ever changing and growing medium of entertainment. This is one of the most important things to people who choose online pc gaming instead of game consoles. With newer technologies, faster computers, high speed internet and better programming codes being created each day, the many online games take on new shapes and have better graphics then those people played just a few years ago. It is easy to keep up with the newest online gaming ideas and programming if you are an active gamer.
